Maksimals first release is a sampler featuring four artists from the west coast of Norway. Pandreas kicks off the EP with a beautiful track bearing resemblance to some of Lindstrøm and Gold Pandas strongest works. A cheeky vocal sample, some shuffling drums, a crips snare and some powerful chords - it has all the hallmarks of a classic pop song. Martin Andal continues with "Skogen" (means forest) - a track that nods towards both Lauer, Tornado Wallace and Young Marco. But ultimately it's simply well crafted melodies with juicy Juno keys, swinging arpeggiators and lush pads.
On the flip side The Glue remix Boka's radio hit ‹Heartbroken City›. They have surgically removed a lot of the funk and left us with some looped bass guitar, heavy drums and powerful lead synthesizers. The type of disco-edit style that would have made Mark E and The Revenge proud. Label boss Admir Kenan rounds off the 12" with a dreamy, italo-inspired house track. With a booming kick, crips percussion and an uplifting melody - Admir ends the record on a positive note.
BONUS DIGITAL TRACK: Swiss sound artist Florian Bürki makes his debut on Maksimal with his chugging house banger "Kan Ikke Tro" under his moniker Gray Chalk.
